Night out in Mombasa.

I was one of a party of stoker PO's from the Triumph/ Singapore FMU in Mombasa 1970. We worked on some UK Frigates and lived for a month in a small grotty hotel near the Tusks on the main drag. Across the road was a Night club and each night we went across to see the stripper (a nice Brummie girl). We got on well with the staff and always sat near the stage on a reserved table. On the last night before going back to our wives in Singapore  we took our usual place and began to enjoy ourselves with more 'Tusker' than usual. At midnight the lights went out, the drums rolled and the first few bars of the 'stripper' came from the loud speakers, the place was full of Matelots and their local female friends, as the spotlight came full on there on the stage tutu and all was Robbie Robinson a Geordie POME carrying out the routine we had witnessed each night for the last month. And sat next to me was the Brummie stripper laughing her head off. For a minute all was quiet then the place erupted with 'jack' appreciating the joke. The management in the shape of the large black bouncers stormed the stage just as Robbie got down to the last item to do a "full monty". The place was in uproar with 'Jack' going berserk and all hell broke loose. The stripper saved Robbie by explaining the joke and of course the Matelots all thought it was a great side show before our Brummie friend did the real thing later on.
