Kenya breweries' Tusker lager (4.2%) is a creamy, dry, golden lager and is made in different strengths. Tusker Premium is the strongest (5%) and is brewed for international export. How did Tusker get its name? It is said that one of the brothers that founded the brewery died when an irate elephant trampled over him. Kenya breweries was founded by two brothers in the early 1920's, using equipment from England. They were originally known as East African Breweries. The first brewery was in Nairobi and the second in Mombasa. Since 1962 they merged with Allsopp, East Africa and now have another brewery, City, in Nairobi and one in Kisumu near Lake Victoria. |
